Shubham Sandilya

A chef who thinks more like a scientist and aims to decipher the claims and lores around the restaurant and the kitchen environment. Consumer behavior analysis and sensory crossmodals are some of his points of convergence taking into consideration their impact on society, the environment, and also on individuals. Fighting the big 3 – Sustainability, Soundness (Health), and Sensoriality- through the power of community knowledge is his long-term vision.

Our Community Outreach Specialist is an independent food scholar who has done his Master’s in Food Studies from Chatham University, Pittsburgh. He writes about the intersection of food, culture, and history while being particularly interested in street food and indigenous food practices across the globe. He currently works as a new product development professional for Moonshine Meadery, India’s first meadery.

Francesca Rampley

Writer and translator from London living in Spain, drawn to the intertwining worlds of food and culture. Prone to itchy feet, she has lived in many different countries and cities since leaving the UK, which continues to shape her and her writing along the way. A lover of languages and all things word related, she is attempting to carve a path in letters to wherever she finds herself next.

Malintha Hewa Batage

Malintha is a biochemistry undergraduate student from England. He’s passionate about fitness, nature, and of course, food. Cycling and running are two of his favourite pastimes that he thoroughly enjoys. Being a student, he aspires to pursue a career in science, and from this, sprouts his desire to educate others on health and nutrition.

Ariana Vier

Art has been a lifelong passion for her. Her artistic journey began in 2015 when she enrolled in the International Baccalaureate art program, and in 2017, she took a significant step by attending Corriente Alterna, an art school in Lima, Peru.

Her diverse artistic work includes painting, drawing, sculpting, and illustration, all driven by a curiosity to explore thought-provoking topics through various media.

This year, she is graduating from Naba’s Visual Arts and Painting program, marking a significant milestone in her artistic career. Simultaneously, she’s pursuing her passion for cooking at Basque Culinary Center, which ignited during a summer break at the age of 19 when she started cooking with her mother, forever changing her perspective on life and art.

A biomedical scientist finishing her Masters in London. Loves traveling and experiencing a new culture through meeting new people and food! She believes in spreading awareness of science and always keeping up to date with science, and SOM will allow me to do so :)

Olga Gil Herreros de Tejada

She is a biologist and currently, she is working her way to linking with gastronomy. She’s enrolled in the graduate program at Basque Culinary Center, specializing in Gastronomic Sciences. Along the way, she’ll be sharing what she learns and knowledge related to sustainability, the physicochemical properties, and interactions associated with what we all love the most, FOOD.

Iñigo López Jauregui

Iñigo, an architect devoted to cinema and gastronomy with a keen interest in photography, has had his own architecture studio since 1999. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to searching for aesthetic and deep meaning in his works, striving to imbue the spaces he and his team create with both historical and social value. He sees architecture as a way of understanding the city, merging this discipline with his passions, and offering an authentic perspective on life and art. Rooted in the Basque Country, his work is centered around the social aspects of the city, aiming to preserve its culture through a contemporary lens, effectively blending the past with the present.

Alessandra is an individual who views gastronomy as a means of comprehending the world around us. She possesses a particular fondness for the overlooked and under appreciated aspects of food, leading her to pursue a career specializing in the fermentation of food waste and the cultivation of mushrooms. Her deep passion for gastronomy drives her to engage with it on a daily basis, recognizing the potential for a simple meal to infuse meaning and purpose into our daily lives.
